Alexandra Tyson is an experienced education consultant who has served a variety of schools, organizations, and agencies throughout Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, New York, Belgium, and Romania.
She earned a BA in philosophy and African American studies from the University of Maryland College Park and a MA in education from New York University. Alex's 16+ years of experience includes classroom teaching, curriculum development, instructional leadership, academic programming, assessment initiatives, and accreditation for prek-12 schools, international schools, universities, and museums. Clients characterize Alex as a deeply-committed educator who works hard to enhance learning experiences, influence student achievement, improve teacher proficiency, and strengthen curriculum in diverse settings through strategic planning and tactical execution. She is an engaged leader and team collaborator with exceptional design and communication skills; Alex excels when tasked with facilitating both instructional and operational cohesiveness in settings where leaders and stakeholders are working to improve the communities they serve. Alex's expert knowledge and research of early childhood and adolescent development informs her student-centered approach to instructional design, program planning, student and family engagement, formations of professional learning communities for educators, and equity and access for Title I schools and Head Start Programs. |
She is a contributing member for the New York Coalition of Radical Educators (NYCORE), a 2023 cohort member of the LeveragED Collective - a nationwide collective of education leaders, and a member of the Early Childhood Leaders of Color Collaborative with Promise Venture Studios. Alexandra enjoys international travel, cooking, gardening, and biking. She lives in Washington DC with her husband and stepson.
