Alexandra Tyson Alexandra Tyson is an experienced education consultant who has served a variety of schools, organizations, and agencies throughout Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, New York, Belgium, and Romania. She currently co-directs the Equity in Early Education in Baltimore (E3B) Cohort Program for child care providers pursuing preschool accreditation and state expansion grants under the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. Alex is also an accreditation specialist and validator, assessing and evaluating classroom quality and instructional delivery in early childhood education programs throughout the state of Maryland for the Department of Education. She provides technical support and assistance to these programs by identifying practices and resources to improve learning outcomes for infants, toddlers, and preschool children. She will complete a professional certificate in data analytics and visualization by July 2025; Alex believes the key to innovation and improvement for early childhood education outcomes is driven by data-informed decisions.
She earned a BA in humanities and African American studies from the University of Maryland College Park and a MA in education and management from New York University. Her 17 years of experience includes classroom teaching, curriculum development, instructional leadership, academic programming, assessment implementation, and accreditation for child care centers, K-12 schools, universities, and museums. Clients characterize her as a deeply-committed educator who works hard to enhance learning experiences, influence student achievement, improve teacher proficiency, and strengthen curriculum in diverse settings. Alex is an engaged leader and team collaborator with exceptional analytic, design, and communication skills; she excels when tasked with facilitating instructional and operational cohesiveness in settings where leaders and stakeholders are working to improve the communities they serve. |
Alex's expert knowledge and research of early childhood and adolescent development informs her human-centered approach to data analytics, instructional design, program planning, family engagement, and formations of professional learning communities for educators. As a member of the LeveragED Collective and Promise Venture Studio’s Early Childhood Leaders of Color Collaborative, Alex actively seeks opportunities to support the work of national organizations. Currently, she serves as the board facilitator for B’More for Healthy Babies’ Community Advisory Board. She is a native Washingtonian and enjoys international travel, cooking, gardening, and biking.
