Felicia Jones Taylor has worked in education for over 14 years in various roles. She currently leads and facilitates the Building Better Beginnings (B3) collaborative under the Maryland Family Network. B3 is a diverse statewide collaboration aimed to increase the quality and availability of programs and services and advance policies for pregnant women and children under 36 months. B3 focuses on equity by working to meet the needs of families experiencing adversity, particularly families of color, children from communities of low income, English language learners, and children with special medical and behavioral needs.
She holds a BS in family science and public health from the University of Maryland College Park, a MS in special education and mild-moderate disabilities, and a Doctor of Education from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Jones Taylor has worked in several areas of early childhood education including Head Start, Early Head Start, Title 1 schools, programs that provide childcare for infants and toddlers, family engagement organizations, and food justice initiatives. Her lived experiences and studies of early childhood education, special education, and family engagement informs her family-centered approach to research, organizational development, and problem solving. She firmly believes equity and access levels the playing field for children, families, and educators. Felicia is an experienced leader in accreditation, program development, teacher training, research and evaluation, and parent engagement and involvement. Additionally, she is an alumnus of the Princeton Alumnicorps and AASA Urban Superintendent Cohort program. |
Dr. Jones Taylor also serves as an advisory board member for the Maryland Early Childhood Leadership Program through the University of Maryland Baltimore County and is an inaugural cohort member of LeveragED, a nationwide network of education practitioners. In her free time, Felicia loves to travel, go to brunch, and hike. She lives in Maryland with her husband, young son, and pup Baxter.
